COMMUNITY HOUSING MID NORTH COAST INCORPORATED. — An Accredited and 1A Registered social housing provider

Is Community Housing different to Public Housing?

Although we maintain close links with public housing we are an alternate housing provider. Our goal is to ensure that applicants eligible for housing should have a clear choice of housing providers. Applicants housed by us in publicly owned properties are taken off the public housing waiting list but in our leased properties our tenants still keep the option to be considered for public housing.

We offer the same security as public housing although in properties we lease privately it is not always possible to keep the same house.

If a leased property is lost to us we make arrangements to ensure that our tenant is suitably re-housed.

In all other aspects our housing is long term with tenants remaining for as long as they are eligible and comply with the terms of their tenancy agreement.

What Can We Offer?

We offer a sensitive and responsive style of management which is dedicated to ensuring successful tenancies. While we have highly trained and professional staff, all our  tenants have the opportunity to participate in the management of the Association and are encouraged to do so if they wish.

We have clear and public policies and procedures and have adopted the Code of Practice for Housing Associations as developed by the New South Wales Federation of Housing Associations. We are also a fully accredited and registered social housing provider.

These steps are all part of our commitment to being a fully transparent and accountable social housing provider.

Who is Community Housing For?

Community Housing provides for people in housing need. Our policy is that;
“The Association….  Shall provide a subsidized and/or supported housing service to individuals or families who are in housing need and are on low to moderate incomes”.

The service will be provided fairly and without discrimination or prejudice.

Where any household has clear support needs we also try to operate jointly with an appropriate support provider so as to increase the likelihood of a successful tenancy.
